Compassion
Leigh Schlosser Diaz drove around with a box of dog treats and multiple spare leashes in the car, just on the chance of finding a stray. Moreover she used to tools often, adopting wandering beasts and transforming them into beloved members of the household. She was always willing to challenge rules that were hurtful more than helpful, but understood difficult choices, and approached people with love and empathy rather than judgement or condescension, even when she didn’t have to.
Courage
Leigh was no stranger to adversity, from the mundane to the dramatic. But rather than revel in melodrama or flee, she knew the value of bucking up and confronting challenge when it was wise. She saw the world and made sure, good and bad, that her children knew what it could offer them if they were willing to explore it.
Creativity
Leigh always encouraged the best of those around her, and that includes in their creative approach to expression. She could create a castle out of dropcloth and a cement underfloor, but also had a regular appointment with Elsa Klensch and knew how to make anything work. She brought curiosity and wonder to life, in her children and her friends, and we honor that by respecting the expressions of all her friends and family.
